| Tom Atkinson - Senior Designer |
|

Tom Atkinson
moved into his forth decade of
electrical/mechanical engineering shortly after joining CRTS. He brings
varied experience
in many areas of electronics. Better than ten years at IDE Associates
as senior
PC Board design engineer working very tightly with hardware engineers.
Products
included terminals (monitors), PC add-ons, PCMCIA cards,
telecommunication products.
Cost, manufacturability, reliability were all priorities and yet
pushing the
technology of the day. More than 6 years as senior electronic engineer
at
Aware, working with sensitive analog circuits and high-speed DSPs.
Aware was
primarily intellectual property (DSL) and reference design oriented,
therefore
a lot of customer interaction was involved. At Reveal Tom was
responsible for
hardware design of two generations of CT baggage scanners that required
expertise in many different disciplines: Power supplies, RF datalinks,
cables,
PCs, motor controllers, sensitive X-Ray detectors and the interaction
between
them all. Tom started ATACO as a moonlighting venture back in 1981. It
grew to sole
source of income and shrunk to a little work on the side and back
again. Simple
soldering through entire product design has been done by this
sole-proprietorship over the years. |
